Think like an engineer or scientist by predicting, observing and explaining as you watch this 40-mph frontal offset crash test between a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air and a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu.

  • Step 1. Look at the above picture to predict which car will better protect its crash test dummy (i.e., which car is more crashworthy).
  • Step 2. Watch the video of the crash and carefully observe what happens to each car during the crash.
  • Step 3. Pause the video after the crash and explain how the more crashworthy car protected its crash test dummy.
